It's Playtime: Outdoor Painting Fun

Last week's It's Playtime received over 100 links!!!  Thank you all for sharing!

My son was busy this past weekend "painting" his playhouse with chalk.  He even got one of the neighborhood kids involved.

I also gave him a bucket with soapy water, a sponge, and some rags.  Once he was happy with his paint job, he and his friend washed it clean.  The older kids in the neighborhood decided that what he was doing was more fun then anything they had planned.  After Michael was finished with this project they moved in, covering the playhouse with chalk, then washing it.  Unfortunately, I was doing laundry and unable to take pictures of that spectacle.  Who said only preschoolers enjoy outdoor painting and washing?

Several other bloggers over at It's Playtime showed us that you don't need paint for outdoor painting.  Kids can enjoy the experience in several different ways:

The kids over at Adventures @ Play enjoyed Water Painting on their patio using big paint brushes and buckets of water.
The Chocolate Muffin Tree shared their DIY Crushed Chalk Paint, perfect for decorating the driveway or sidewalk.
While Embracing the Rain, the kids over at Inspiration Surrounds Creativity Abounds explored homemade chalk paint mixed with rain water.  Check out their homemade rain coats too!
Tinker Lab shared pictures of her friend's son and his Outdoor Water Painting Experiments.  He enjoyed using small paint brushes, water, paper, the sidewalk, and chalk sticks.

  2. Wow, what a great resource! As a home-day care provider, I'm always looking for daily activities that are quick and easy (but not necessarily clean!). It looks like I've landed at my one stop shop. Thanks for putting all this together!!
